Hello bluenorway,

For now, we are going to leave it as a percentage. That seems to work fine for everyone who uses that feature so far. It is not tough to figure out the width --as 10% of 1024 is 102, for instance.

Please note that after last night's migration to the new server, we have had to turn off NEW full-length thumbnails for the time being. This is due to a technological hiccup we encountered after the move. We should have that back online in the next few days.

does this feature work now?

This feature has always worked.

Bluenorway did not understand how to use it or wants it to be designed in a way that is not optimal.

This feature is working and stable as-is.

I cannot get it to work with both domain.com and domain.com/innerpage (inside=1). It seems that you have to choose among the two when it goes for full size thumbnails.

I have also tested STW with normal thumbnails and with and without innerpages at the same time without any problems. I have sent you a pm.

I just replied to your PM a few minutes ago, actually.

I was testing before I replied to your inquiry and found that in the case of &full=1, the new code to support the &inside=1 tag even for requests that are not inside pages did not take the full thumbnails into account.

As I mentioned in the PM, I will reply to this thread once I have added that support.

To capture a full-length image at 33% (low quality is not currently an option), you would use:

<a href="$prepared[homepage]" target="_blank"><img src="https://shrinktheweb.com/xino.php?embed=1&stwu=XXXXX&STWAccessKeyId=XXXXX&inside=1&full=1&scale=33&stwUrl=$prepared[homepage]" width="450" height="375" align="left" border="0" style="border: 3px double #e3e3e3" alt="$prepared[username]

I see this is the code you tried, so you are doing the call correctly. Sorry you ended up wasting a few hours when it was an oversight on the recent addition of supporting domain.tld even when incorrectly using &inside=1 on pages that aren't really inside pages (which is something that is necessary in many cases to ease the programming burden on 3rd party apps).

I have made the necessary changes.

As always, please verify this and other cases to ensure that I fixed the original issue AND did not break any previously working code.

I have tested all the various scenarios and there were no errors, but it's always possible that I missed something. Wink

Cheers,

Brandon

Sorry the same problems persist:

From your code I have tried both and without:
width="450" height="375"

I prefer with out - but it does not seem to make any difference

What about:
&Service=ShrinkWebUrlThumbnail

I also think I tried every combination with or without. Here is the code I use right now (70% scale):

<a href="$prepared[homepage]" target="_blank"><img src="https://shrinktheweb.com/xino.php?embed=1&stwu=XXXXX&Service=ShrinkWebUrlThumbnail&Action=Thumbnail&STWAccessKeyId=xxxxxx&full=1&scale=70&stwUrl=$prepared[homepage]" align="left" border="0" style="border: 3px double #e3e3e3" alt="$prepared[username]'s home page" /></a>

This code cannot show innerpages - and if I include inside=1 then it is possible to show domain.com/innerpage but not domain.com

The width and height in the img tag do not matter. You can remove those. I just copied the basic code you pasted.

&Service=ShrinkWebUrlThumbnail

This is necessary but has no effect on this issue.

Update: For future reference, this DOES matter. This variable can only be used with the API and DOES break the simple method request.

I just now re-tested this again and it works fine. I'm not sure why it is working differently for you. For this to work, you will definitely have to include the &inside=1 tag in your request.

I pulled a specific Yahoo! personals page and used your code to capture that specific page at full-length and 33% and it worked as expected. Then, I removed the specific pages part of the Url (and left &inside=1) and it captured/showed the main yahoo personal page as expected.

Can you double check the code you are uploading and viewing? View source and confirm exactly what you are calling so that I can reproduce in the case that there is still a problem.

Thanks,

Brandon

In an effort to get to the bottom of why you are seeing differences, I was checking through the test thumbnails I just generated and I noticed that when logged in and viewing thumbnails we've requested; full length, inside thumbnails did not have the &inside=1 inserted.

So, when viewing "My Thumbnail Requests" for full-length, inside pages, you would see "Thumbnail Queued" even though it would work when used in an actual web page on your site. In any case, I have fixed that and it will show the thumbnail now when logged in and viewing your requests. Perhaps that explains the discrepancy??

I just know that there still is a difference in the output. I have just sent you a pm with examples.
